Happy Saturday flowers!! It's finally December...can you believe it!?! This year has seemed fast to me. Soon we'll be bringing in the presents :) After this, I may bring in some Christmas movies! But, this is a super favourite, I'm quite a Rita Hayworth fan...she's such a dish!! So beautiful. I watch this one every now and then when I want a bit of sparkle. The technicolour, the costumes, the glamour...she's utterly sweet in this movie. I hope you enjoy it & have a wonderful December 1st...time to get those decorations out and get wrapping ;)
Lots of loves
xoxoxo
Starring: Rita Hayworth, Gene Kelly, Phil Silvers, Otto Kruger, Jinx Falkenburg, Eve Arden, Lee Bowman, Jess Barker, Edward Brophy.
Synopsis
Rusty (Rita Hayworth), a chorus girl working at a nightclub run by her boyfriend Danny McGuire (Gene Kelly), is given a chance for stardom by the wealthy magazine editor John Coudair (Otto Kruger), who years earlier had been in love with her grandmother, Maribelle Hicks. Offered an opportunity to be a highly-paid cover girl, Rusty would faithfully remain with her nightclub act if only Danny would ask her. He doesn't want to stand in her way, so he picks an argument to send her packing. Rusty becomes a star on Broadway after appearing in a musical produced by Coudair's wealthy friend, Noel Wheaton (Lee Bowman), and decides to get married to Wheaton. At the last second she leaves the wedding and reunites with Danny.

DeleteCan't remember if I have seen this one or not. Maybe when I was little...Hm...Have to see it again then! LOVE Gene Kelly!!! :D And don't blush just because someone dedicates a little Fabergé egg to you. You really deserve it! ;) Glad you asked if I had received your mail - because I hadn't! Looked in the bin and found it there though. So Gmail thought your precious letter as SPAM!!!!! BAD manners Google!!! Now your un-spamed though :) And of course I want to be featured as one of your interviewees - I see it as an honor! :) Will get back to you with my answers next week. Tonight I'm going to a Christmas party, and tomorrow I have a shoot out in the snow. So my mantra tonight will be: "don't drink too much, don't drink too much, don't drink too much"...Otherwise I'm gonna have to use LOTS of concealer underneath my eyes for the shoot! ;) xoxoxoxoxo
ReplyDeleteI love Gene Kelly too, he's dashing!! Must see it again if you've seen it ;) Thank you again so much, it's very kind of you :)) And yay, thanks for wanting to join in too :))) Enjoy your party and shoot tomorrow as well, sounds wonderful :))) xoxoxoxoxo

DeleteI love Rita Hayworth, she was a real beauty and of course I loved Gene Kelly too. I loved to watch them dance. Great old movies! :) Of course, I am a big fan of the l940's, the hair, the clothes and shoes...so much style and class back then.
ReplyDeleteShe was wonderful & Gene Kelly too :) The clothes and hairstyles were lovely. Both men & women knew how to dress and had such class, it seems to lack now a days!! xx
DeleteWhat a coincidence! I just purchased this film at a garage sale last week! And I'm pretty excited to watch it. So glad to know it is just as fabulous as I hoped. :)

DeleteOh I love old films like this, when I was young there used to be one on every weekend and I'd sit and watch it with my mum. Perfect for rainy afternoons too.
ReplyDeletei've watched several of her movies, but not this one! i love her. she had the best hair. did you know she was hispanic? her original hair was black and they dyed it and gave her a new hairline. she had so many problems with men. they mistreated her so badly. i hated reading about that. i'll put this in my netflix review.
