{Saturday Night at the Movies} It's a Wonderful Life

Happy Saturday flowers...we're ever so close to Christmas Day, so I thought that I would take these last weeks to share some of my favourite Christmas movies...ones that I have watched since a child and now. I hope you enjoy them and you keep warm & careful as you go out in the winter weather if you happen to be experiencing it where you are!! Enjoy.

xox

P.S. All my love & prayers go to those dealing with loss due to the Connecticut shootings....I pray that we find our way back to love some how & realise how very precious life really is...we can make a difference!

Synopsis

George Bailey is a small town man who's life seems so hopeless that he contemplates suicide. He had always wanted to leave the little Bedford Falls and see the world, but things in life and his own good heart have led him to stay. He gave up his education for his brother's, kept the family business afloat and protected the town against the greedy banker Mr. Potter and married his childhood sweetheart. As he prepares to jump from a bridge, an angel intercedes and shows him what his life would have been like for everyone in Bedford Falls had he never been born.
This is my favourite, because many of us struggle through life and forget how important we are to those around us. Christmas can be a time of loneliness as much as it is about happiness and love.  And this movie shows from a different point of view what life would be like if we had never come across the people we know & just how much we can make a difference in their life without even knowing it. With Christmas being a some what lonely time for people, we should remind ourselves if we have much, we should give just the same & if you know someone that will be alone at Christmas..make sure to visit them or invite them around...you could be changing or saving their lives!!

(I could only find the colourised version, the black and white one just wanted you to click on links, so I didn't think it safe for your computers, just in case - but it still has the same warm message all the same)

Obviously these are from the B&W original version of the movie ;)

  4. Hi Kizzy,

I love this movie and usually watch it at least once over the holiday season. I just watched Miracle of 34th Street last Sunday the original version with Natalie Wood. Another great Christmas movie was an old movie, Christmas in Connecticut with Barbara Stanwyck. It's sorta corny but I still love it! :)

  7. Even though it shouldn't make a difference at what time of the year something as horrible as the Connecticut shootings happen, it still feels sadder when it happens just before Christmas. Just because that's the time of the year families get together, and the loss of loved ones is felt and remembered even more...It breaks my heart when I see how much evil there is in this world...But of course there is a lot of love too, and we should all tell the persons we love how much they mean to us while we can. Tomorrow it might be too late... <3 <3 <3

  8. kizzy, this is most definitely a classic that everyone should watch at least once in their life. it has so much meaning and james stewart is excellent in it. girl, it's been so sad here in the States and when they came out with pictures of those little angels i cried my heart out. some people and gov't still don't get it. i constantly ask, how much more do we all have to endure before something is done. thanks for your kind words.
