Kids all over the world and all through time want to rebel. Peter Muller (Robert Sean Leonard) and Thomas Berger (Christian Bale) are two such young men whose rebellion against the conformity of Nazi Germany took the form of a love of American swing music, British fashion, and Harlem slang. But when an innocent prank forces Peter into the Hitler Youth, their friendship and their loyalties are put to the test against the seductive power of Nazism. I first watched this film many years ago when I was 12 or 13 years old in theatre class, I was glued. To see the impact one man had on a whole nation and many others was heart-breaking. Many lost everything, but this is a story more through the eyes of people trying to rebel against that & what happens to them due to these actions. Though dated at times, it's seeped with a innocent beauty that I love. A fable that teaches one of always sticking to what they believe in even if it gets you into trouble, alone or even killed. The dancing and music is sublime & I can remember learning many of the dances in class and performing them. But, it's a movie that's always stuck with me & reminded me to be always be true to myself & stand for my beliefs until the very end. I hope you enjoy it & have a great weekend!
Love loves

Sounds like a great movie. Movies about the II world war always make a great impact on me. Most of the time the movies have beautiful stories about good and brave people in the war but unfortunately most movies have a very sad ending. Thanks for sharing this :)

Kizzy,
ReplyDeleteI watched Part one and will definitely watch the rest of it. I love the 40's, it's my favorite era. The dancing in this clip is wonderful and reminds me of my dad talking about doing the jitterbug and wearing zoot suits. He still can do the jitterbug and most of the ladies that knew him back then said everyone wanted to dance with him because he was such a good dancer! Lol
The movie looks like it would be an inspirational and thought provoking movie. Thanks so much for sharing this! :)
I watched that movie fifteen years ago I think. Must watch it again. Thank you Kizzy love!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great movie! I am very interested to watch it!

ReplyDeleteI love swing dancing and war movies always entrance me for some reason. Especially if they're set in the 40s or 50s. Sigh... I'll have to look this one up then :)
ReplyDeleteI love it so much. My Boyfriend (some years older) remember this movie from his youth and a few months ago we watched together with other modern-classic vintage movie from 90´s: "Dead Poets Society". Yes!, with young cute Robert SL again.
